Who makes an upper receiver vise block that will hold up to the torque of installing a barrel?
Is it a better option to secure the barrel in the vise?
How much torque should be applied when installing the barrel?

DPMS make a upper rec. Block. You can check out Midway they have a couple listed also.

The blocks that I looked at use the pins to hold the upper and don't look strong enough to torque a barrel on

Hi they have a piece that extends into the upper and holds it rigged. You can also use to blocks of wood. Make sure to cover with soft cloth. (only works with flat tops).
