| I just aquired an a2 upper I plan on building something out of. I either want to do a long range 223 build or another caliber. I like the balistics of the 25/243 wssm, but cant find any information about if they work with a standard upper or not. Basically wanting to know what calibers I can build off my upper. |

Lots of modification, and enlarging the ejection port is the least of it.
The much larger bolt thrust of the WSSM requires a greatly enlarged bolt. That requires a correspondingly larger barrel extension, and that requires machining the upper reciever to fit the new barrel extension. Then the bigger bolt has to be fit into the bolt carrier. So altered, the upper will no longer work with stock barrels. Mike at Dtech originated this conversion, and he posts here. For a stock (or mostly so) AR15 upper, the list of cartridges is getting pretty long: .204 Ruger 5.45X39 6MM AR 6.5 Grendel 6.5 MPC 6.8 Rem .300 Whisper 7.62X39 .450 Bushmaster .458 SOCOM .50 Beowulf Pop to mind. There are others. |
