I skimmed through the threads I found under a search, but I didn't see anything on this.  I looked at two 5.45x39 M&P rifles at work last night and noticed two things:  1.  The caliber is not stamped on the lower receivers and 2. The magazine included is stamped .223.  So my question is this:  Are the magazines and lower receiver in the 5.45 the same as the .223?  I'm assuming the BCG and the barrel would have to be different obviously.  I just thought it was strange that one was unmarked and the other was marked with a different caliber.

Thanks...

C Product 5.45 mags are stamped "5.45" and the bodies and followers are specific to 5.45 AFAIK.  A lower is a lower.

bolt and barrel are the only things different. a standard 223 magazine (with a black follower) will work, but you will not get 30 rounds in it. I usually use about 25 rounds. but I just got a bunch of 5.45 mags in from CProducts, so will just be using those.

I just received my S&W upper and the mag was marked 5.45X39 SS.

Too bad the damn thing only accepts 22 rds. I had to set the mag down and walk away from it I'm so pissed. I ordered 2 directly from CProducts and they work fine, this this one is pissing me off.
