ordered my upper and they said it was going to take 4-5 weeks for it to be shipped. anyone know why this is, is it still in such low demand they dont have inventory?

Who is they?  There are a couple places you can buy 6.5 uppers.

My wait for a 24" from AA so far has been around 15-16 weeks. The 16" I have on order as been maybe 4 or 5 so far.

The barrels are both now in stock. They were shorted some bolts on the last shipment. Once they receive the bolts and do the safety checks they should be going out the door.

24" should be coming in this week hopefully. 16" should be a couple of weeks later, God willing.

ETA: This is regarding barrels, not complete uppers

If you don't want to wait, order it from here. I got my gun in 1 week.

I've shopped at Bud's a few times....they usually have a few AAs and several Doublestars (local company for them) in stock.

Having fun Doin' the Deid?  I just got back in May--and promptly retired

You can always cancel. If you only knew the amount of times I had to cancel since something was not in stock, lol.

Actually, AA has stated that the demand for Grendel products (barrels and bolts mostly) far out-stripped the supply. As such, they have added more suppliers for their parts and are ramping the production levels up.

Thank you all for your past and continuing support. As some of you know, we have experienced a huge increase in demand for our products. While we are diligently working on increasing our production capacity, the recent increase in demand caught even us a little by surprise. Due to the increase, our backlog and waiting times have grown to a level quite unacceptable to us. We ask for your patience as we continue to increase production, add staff and streamline our operations. The quality of our products is our number one priority and while maintaining that quality during this dramatic increase may lead to a longer wait time than we would wish for, we can't sacrifice our world class reputation for quality products. We are sure you can understand. We will work with each and every one of you to make sure you are getting exactly what you expect from us. Please don't hesitate to contact us to check on your order.

Thank you again for your support and patience.

A long time ago, when I built my first Grendel, the barrel/bolt combo was in stock at AA and I got it 4 days after I ordered it.

Is anyone making an SS Bull Barrel upper in the Grendel?

I'm not trying to hijack this thread, but I just ordered an 18" barrel/bolt combo from AA. Should I be anticipating a long wait?hinking.gif

If you want something like that order a billet upper and bbl/bolt combo from AA

Don't make the mistake of hanging more than 22" of bbl off a standard receiver, those bbls are heavy enough @ .750"
and 19.5"

Ask for the Hard Service combo.

Been waiting since the 12th of Sept. for my 20" Grendel upper from CenterFire.  Don't what the deal is, they keep saying it'll be ready next week every time I call.

A few Sabre Defence 6.5 Grendel uppers and barrels at Midway USA - only downside is a bit pricy...but, you get what you pay for w/SDI.

Yes I said it. and I am right, if you want that thing to never have flex issues like those seen in the 24"-28" bbls that is what should be used.

If you don't think I am right, fine, or better yet ask Bill Alexander.

Take a look at his long bbl offerings, they have the billet upper

A standard flat top can be used and will work, but the billet is without question superior in that application

Any billet will do? LaRue, Vltor, brand X?

No sarcasm; I am asking honestly: I'm planning a 24" build.

Pretty much any quality Billet, but I know far less that Bill and will never catch up with him.

My opinion is use an AA or a LaRue

Remember that Bill has ALOT of work to do and he will answer questions but every minute wasted results in jobs being delayed.

16" should be in Tuesday. Makes the wait around 8 or so weeks for that one.

My 24" build should be complete Tues. ADCO is returning it after a bbl install. I'll try to post pics when it gets her. I'm pretty stoked.

AA told me 4-6 for delivery on my 16 Tactical upper.  I hope they don't go much longer than that as that fits perfect with my next trip home for ten days!  I wanna get the thing together and get some rounds downrange before I have to return to groundhog day!

I decided not to wait...  canceled my order today and may have found something better.  6mmAR - same brass, less BS.

Ive been reading over on the 6mmAR discussion on the site, its perked my interest too, I need another project like a hole in the head.

How long is AA estimated to be backed up? IS the backlog due to backorders being filled or lack of parts or "other"?
