| I have looked and looked for a 6.8 suppressor. What am I missing...I see the pics in this forum. Are they using another caliber as a suppressor on the 6.8? Sorry for the newbie question. |
Welcome, no worries about the new question. The fact is some people use 30 cal suppressors to do double duty. That I know of dedicated 6.8 cans are made by Ops Inc and Surefire, beyond that I am uncertain, there very well may be others but those are the ones I have experience with. 6.8 can by Ops Inc adcofirearms.com/acc/productLine_.cfm?brand=OPS%20INC&product_category=Silencers Surefire 6.8 Cans www.surefire.com/maxexp/main/co_disp/displ/carfnbr/439/sesent/00 |
Same here. Don't limit yourself with a 6.8mm suppressor. Get a 7.62 suppressor like the YHM. Since the difference between the two bullets is less that 1 mm, there is no real big loss in efficiency. The adaptor will work on the thread pitch of most 6.8mm bbls. 5/8" X 24tpi. That way if you get an AR10, sometime down the road, you have a can that works on both platforms. |

It really depends on your rfile and your Omega. Most of the 6.8 barrels are threaded 5/8x24. (with exceptions like Stag IIRC they are 1/2x36.) If your 700 is threaded that way, it should just be a matter of screwing the Omega onto the muzzle on your 6.8. A lot of thread on 308 cans default at 5/8x24 (common pitch I suppose) If you had the 700 threaded in some other pitch, you can contact TROS about making an adapter. I just sent paperwork out Saturday for a suppressor. I went with an AAC M4-2000 bored to 6.8 If I'm lucky, I'll have it by Christmas LOL |
tell me how you like that. I had a friend do the same thing and he said it was louder than his 308 can. but he said the weight difference was well worth it.... on a side note I've been thinking of getting an SWR thundertrap over bored to >50 for a beuwolf i've got.... |
