Took my rifle to the range today, and after firing four rounds, heard the rifle go click on 5 rounds in a row.  The firing pin made an indentation in the primer on each round, but not as deep as on the rounds that had previously fired successfully.  The firing pin as moving fine in the bolt, but a bit dirty.  Cleaned it and it still misfired.  Hammer spring seemed strong.

Has anyone else had this happen?

I would bet that you have a sliver of brass, unburnt powder, or some other bit of crud stuck somewhere that is preventing the bolt from completely going into battery.  I had the same thing happen to a completely different rifle that has always been completely reliable.  Of course it happened in the middle of a 3 gun match.  The rifle had never done it before and hasn't done it since.

the primer will usually get a dent going into battery. try putting the misfired round in the chamber and letting the bolt go from the bolt catch. it should fire. then try lubing everything well. dpms has tight chambers. doug

What type of ammo are you using?  Is it dented from going into battery or from the hammer falling?

Thanks, I will try all of the above.  Privi is the type of ammo.  Not been a problem before.
