I am planning on my first AR but not sure which way to go. I hunt with a 243 and would like to use my AR for deer, hogs and other critters without,(at this time) adding a new caliber. I think the 243 would be best since I could now add a new upper in 308 or 7-08 later. Remington now has a factory 243 and that is the one I am looking at for 243. Has anyone had any dealings with remingtons new AR- the R-25? |

I haven't shot one yet, but there doesn't appear to be any more quality or features justifying the price that Remington wants. There are other manufacturers building quality AR's for more reasonable prices. just my two cents (you know what that's worth these days. . .) |
They are selling for far less than Remington's website MSRP. Fluted FF barrel and a full camo setup (siongle stage 4-4.5lb trigger as well) makes them very interesting. Personally, I would take one of them in 7mm-08. That's a fantastic overall performance round... |

Hello. I bought a new DSA FN FAL in .243 for the same money, that Remington is asking. It has a fluted 19 inch medium contour barrel, quad rails, railed dust cover, camo dura coat, gas piston operation, blah blah. Got a good deal off of Gunbroker.com. There might be some used, out there. Still, I like the look of the Remington. Could be a little cheaper though. I did see a DPMS LR243, on Gunbroker.com for $925.00. It was used, and looked like a nice rifle. If I had the extra coin, I would probably pick it up. |
Thanks people this is the stuff I am loking for. I like the option to goto 308 or 7mm-08 also Does anyone have the R-15 as a reference point? Its a bitch to type with your Cat wlking in front of the screen and playing with the keyboard. |
