My friend is building a DPMS .308. What bolt and bolt carrier should he get for extreme use. Also, any other parts you think would be necessary or nice for the build? He is putting an 18" or 16" barrel on it. |

There are not a lot of options. Mainly, DPMS or Armalite. The AR-10 carrier group will run fine in a DPMS rifle. For a build, AR-10 may be a better way to go. DPMS parts are not as wide spread. In general, DPMS is a better option to buy something, like an AP-4 or LR_308 and then modify to your specs. Do your homework pricing stuff out before you build. The barrel is the heart of the rifle, so figure that out first. Barrels are compatible between DPMS and Armalite AR-10. |
