Hi,
I have the 308 AP4 Carbine. It has a 1.17in diameter buffer tube on it.
I bought a Magpul PRL stock from Denny’s made for the 308 but it takes the 1.14 OD, long A-1 tube, spring and buffer.
Can I just order another 1.14 tube with the buffer and spring?
Will the threads match up with the receiver if the OD of tube is the smaller 1.4 vs. 1.7 inches?
I see this stock on the DPMS 308 weapons all the time so I thought it would fit.
Thanks

Sorry for the Typo
it's the Magpul PRS Stock

Gun is;
DPMS LR-308 AP4 Carbine
Leupold Mark 4 3.5-10x40mm LRT
ARMS QD Rings
JP Single Stage trigger
JP AP4 float Tube
Magpul MIAD Grip (customized)
Battlegrip Vertical

I have a DPMS SASS Upper 308 being deliverd on Monday that I will be using on it, that is why I want the Magpul to work. I need to ask where to get the parts to make it work or if it will even work.
I am asking here because I figure one of you fellows has to know.
I have tried other places and get no response from them.
Please Help
Thank's Anthony

What you're looking for is a "Mil-Spec" buffer tube, your current buffer and spring should still be fine, just start a search and purchase a Mil-Spec tube, that's all you should need.

ETA:  Doesn't the Magpul PRS Stock use an A2 buffer tube?  I'm unaware of any commercial/mil-spec A2 style tubes... now the collapsable stocks are as stated above.  You might want to call Magpul or DPMS

The Magpul PRS according to them will use either A-1 or A-2, just leave the spacer out of the A2.
Will a 1.14" tube screw into my lower receiver? It has a 1.17" in it now.
The threads are 1.17" X whatever thread count they use.

The fit of the buffer tube threads to the receiver threads isn't critical. I've never had any difficulty using commercial or mil spec tubes in a receiver. There simply isn't enough difference between them to matter.

I see what you mean, just a hair,  if you look at .015 each side.
You would think it would just go on there.
One must remember the commercial tubes have a slant back and the mil. spec are flat. I don't think that matters much with the collapsible stock.
Thanks a whole bunch.

Yes you can just swap the tube, buffer, and spring. If you have a fixed stock, Standard A2, ACE, ect it would fit, but with the AP4 collasible stock it has that groove sticking out the bottom, plus is differnt in diamater (as you have found). Still waiting on mine to come in the mail.. been back ordered for way to long. Post pics when you get done. Congrats.

yep you need a milspec rifle extension, and the .308 rifle length buffer/spring from dpms.
