I was at the gun store today and i was getting the feel for a .308. what I liked was a DPMS 24" SS barrel with FF hand guards with flat top high rise receiver. I can get it for right under 1,100 NIB out the door. my ? is can i find a better deal on line or at gun show. I have one coming up soon 3-4 of feb. thanks guys for any info you might have. the gun will be used just for fun at the range. |

Full retail price on that gun is $1159+tax+any other local fees. They are giving you a deal, but I'd be willing to bet that you can con them into throwing in a couple of freebies to sweeten the pot a bit more..... As for getting a better deal, I suspect you can find one, but how much gas and time will you spend in order to save yourself, at most, a hundred bucks or so??? Also, how important is it to you to have a local dealer that will stand behind his product, and be there all week, every week, stocking all those items that you can go in and touch and feel and evaluate, hands-on, whenever you get the notion??? Online sales and gun shows will soon be the death of the local gun shop. The local guy HAS to charge a little more to cover all his extra expenses for overhead. That convenience to you does not come without a price.... /prejudiced opinion //small pawnbroker in a tiny town ///support your local guys or one day they'll all be gone! ////apologizes to EE vendors |

Too high in my opinion. I didn't check any of the links in this thread, but it seems easy enough to get one for $950. That is the rifle I have. I hated the handguard so put a new one on it, got a better trigger and now it's an awesome rifle. Now let me say this. it is a heavy long range shooting rifle. If that is not what you want then get a different version. it comes in a lighter weight shorts version as well. |
