anyone smart on this idea.  saw a dpms a3 upper on the ee that has the inside of the upper electroplated with nickel silicon.  i have not seen this before, i guess its done to cylinder bores.  this is the info i did find www.mt-llc.com/tour/tech.html

I would love to have that done to mine.  It is the same process that POF uses for their "Corrosion Ressistant Operating System"  POF claims that no lube is needed in their rifles which would be great for reliability when temperatures are very low.  I wonder If they can apply it to an upper that has already been anodizeed?

Probably blast the anodizing off, realizing you can't keep adding "layers". It will eventually lead to tolerance stacking=

yeah it actually bonds with the Al.  i guess with a proper hone it holds oil well, not sure how it works unhoned.  its not a whole lot more expensive than a normal stripped upper, just wondering how much it would benefit.  i need to replace my elevated upper with an a3 anyhow, so i may try one.
