Guys,
Have a question and need your assistance.  I purchased an Ar15 some 20 years ago and had it in my safe all these years and only shoot it occasionaly.  I tried to match it up in the Blue Book just to see what it was worth and was unable to match it up with any models listed in the book.  The actual ident of the rifle is - AR15 A2, Sporter II, Serial # preban.  The rifle has an A2 800 meter adjustable sight in the upper.  According to everything I have read they were not configured this way.  My first impression was that someone added the upper aftermarket.
When I talked to the people at Colt Archive I was told the rifle was an R6520 Government Model; however, this is not what is stamped on the receiver.  My only thought is that since the Govt Model replaced the Sporter II this may have been a transitional model.  If so is it considered rare and has significant value?
Thanks,
Dan
