My collection of AR's are all RRA....I have been waiting for over 18 months for the RRA .308 to hit the street, I even purchased 15 FN FAL mags for the rifle.... Well, RRA stil has no release date and I was at my local dealer and he has a DPMS lower built up for sale, and I am getting real anxious to get a .308 in the gun closet. I know this is the DPMS forum, but what is the real scoop on the .308 rifle line...you hear some much about the AR line, could be bad info, but any advice would be good. Thanks, 77Bronc |

my buddy has a dpms AR15, and its really good. got it for a good price. it seems to be a BONE STOCK rifle though. the 4 position stock is really loose, and the trigger is horrible, but all in all, the major components are all in god working order, and the recievers fit beautifully. some upgrades, and he has a perfect rifle. hope this helps, brian |

I have one of the DPMS AP4...I love it..For the price you can't beat it. I picked mine up for $990, brand spanking new with case, 2 mags, and cleaning kit. http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee59/j21black/Recycleinaisles003.jpg |
| I went with the Tac20. It has the 20" barrel. It seems to be a good balance between the 24" and the 16". Still is fairly handy but not too heavy for strictly a bench gun. So far it has been flawless. I can shoot 1" all day at 100 yards with a 4x16 scope. Have not been able to take it further than that yet. All in all it has become one of favorites at the range. Despite the $$$$ for 308 ammo there is something about this gun that makes you smile everytime you pull the trigger. |

You can't go wrong with DPMS. I have 7 total DPMS rifles and they all are great, the barrels are the best around. I have paid much more for wilson, jp and hart and always end up back at DPMS. example 18" 1in 9 bull upt to gas block then turned dwon to heavy diameter 1.5" 5 shot group at 300 yards. with lue 1.5X5 mark 4 24" .308 bull 1 hole at 100 and 1.2 at 300 the others all shoot about the same, non of them shoot bad. I just got a .260 and didn't even get to shoot it yet, but I have heard nothing but great stuff about that caliber, if I were you I might consider it instead of the .308. good luck |
I have 7+ DPMS rifles and NONE have failed me yet with several having over 4K down the pipe. The 308 works great as well. Had some problems at first until I realized that it required a 308 buffer rather than a 223 buffer Once that was replaced it has functioned perfectly ever since. My AP4 is under 3/4MOA w/ handloads(surp bullets), so I think its pretty darn good! Can't wait to install the 24" bull barrel and see what it does for groups.-TS |

I've only had this one, LR308, 24" SS no flutes. photo on pg 10 of the DPMS picture thread. I have always said that I imagine there is a better rifle, but not anywhere near the price of the LR308. And in all honesty, I doubt that RRA is going to make a better one either. My LR308 is my favorite rifle to shoot. |

I got the DPMS and never looked back. The 24" was a little long and heavy, so I put on a 18" Noveske and its perfect. Any off the shelf mass produced AR is gonna have a crappy GI trigger and maybe a cheapo CAR stock. Upgrades are half the fun! ![]() You can spend twice as much on a .308-- but why? 1K to get into the rifle, then turn it into whatever you want-- or leave it alone. What could be better? I never understood the Holy grail of using FAL mags. Yea I have to spend a little more on my nice new steel mags, but I'll take that piece of mind. Buying FAL 20 mags to find 5 that you trust? Not so cheap any more. Video of shooting break in groups My $.02 TJ |
