I'm really learning a lot about how this cartridge performs and functions under various conditions/configurations, but damn its getting expensive

I can only bring myself to load 20rds at a time, but its nice when each makes contact. A very controlable package. I can only imagine the effect of those 300gr SMKs at 25yds on flesh

clanging steel

Not to mention the only sound heard is the steel.

What'd I win Dick Clark?"

Looks like a damn sweet shooter.

I was going to build another 6.8 SPC but thats it, Im sick of seeing your awesome videos

Also, as a side note, the guys from ADCO ship stuff fast... if you want a 338 Spec build they could make it happen fast!

What is the max effective range of the .338 spectre?

what do you consider effective for your application?  I've grouped 300gr SMKs well at 100yds from that 8" barrel.  I'm not sure of the "umph" factor, but its still 300grains impacting.  180-200gr bullets will make contact out to 4-500yds from 16-20" barrels.

I'm thinking of 10-14.5" barrel and a good deer gun out to 200-250 yards. Is this within the effective range of the .338 spectre?

I like the CQB aspects of the platform but I also like to multi-task with my guns.

Its capable, but you're pushing it out at those distances.

Considering that why not just get an AR10 type chambered in .338 Federal it would work pretty well on anything in North America.

Why dont you try to get them to make 338 brass instead of the dead 10mm mag?

Starline is pretty easy to deal with on making a custom run of brass.

I think they needed a 15,000 or 25,000 minimum order and they would run whatever you wanted.

That's what two groups of 458 SOCOM afficinados had to do.  In the end, we got formed and headstamped brass AND Starline started making it a stockable item after the second big order we did.

Starline needs 20,000 to do a run.  The next run of 10mm Mag is slated for later this year, it was meant to be run earlier but they delayed it for some reason.

A second maker has indicated that they are willing to make it FORMED and HEADSTAMPED, albeit more expensive.  Timing on this is not known yet, but appears that end of year might be feasible.

You can make it for 6.8 SPC brass, but it takes effort (cut, form, trim, neck turn, adjust loads)

Find enough takers to get 20K brass sold and we can get it made ...

Maine Cartridge Company has 10mm Magnum AMMO in stock, you can buy the ammo from them, pop the 180 gr FMJs and the save the WC820 (works well in the .338), then just form the primed cases (REMOVE THE DECAPPING PIN! )

Interesting.  May need to pursue this build after I'm done with my .300 Whisper/Fireball build.

Where can I find brass, load data and dies?  Can .223 be formed to .338 Spectre?

BTW:  I noticed the dirt kicking up to the shooters right.  Are the crickets going crazy?

Do you have anymore videos?
