Randall, I have your reamer print from Dave dated 2/27/04. It appears that you tried to optimize this print to work with the 115 SMK. If you take the 1.7609 Lead dim. and subtract .015 for jump it hits the tangent of the ogive on the 115SMk when seated At 2.28" Am I seeing this correctly? I do not have a 115 fmj to compare. The 110 VMAX also hits close. The 110 TSX would need to be set at 2.3" to make the jump and the 120gr Barnes is around 2.44" After yesterdays testing I'm thinking more about this Barnes 120. I was able to get 2650fps with a BC of .438. The ballistics look really good. Better than a 308 175 SMK at 2500fps. So I'm thinking about short throating it and possibly shortening the neck of the case .050. If I changed your lead dim. to 1.620 I could get the .015 jump if I loaded the 120 to 2.30. Thoughts? |
While my name IS on that version of the reamer print, it's only because that print was generated FOR me at my request. That's the basic SAAMI print so any throat design would be from Chris Murray, Clymer and Remington. |
