For you DPMS LR308T owners. I'm a lefty. Will the brass out of a LR308T beat me up??? What direction is the brass thrown? I noticed it doesn't have a brass deflector. Thanks.

Good question - I might have an answer.

I shot my new LR 308 at the range yesterday and broke in the barrel.  I am probably going to start shooting southpaw, due to a left eye dominance issue I have.

So, I tried shooting left handed and about every 3rd round, I'd got some hot brass on the very edge of my cheek.  Now this was without a scope and just shooting at the burm to cycle a round through so I could clean the gun.  I think my cheek weld was probably a little farther forward than it will be when I put my scope on.

BUT, the point is it's too close for comfort. Is there any way to put a deflector on these DMPS smooth uppers??? I REALLY don't want to have to buy a new upper and deal with all of that.  I've already got about $2,500 into this thing already.

Hope this helps.

Basically that said to replace a worn ejector spring if it throws brass too far back.  This gun is brand friggin' new.  This ain't helpin' me at all.

I'm usually pretty calm about these things and let stupidity go but I promised to turn over a leaf this year. So pay attention.

This is due to the ejection of the brass in an overly rearward postion. This is most likely due to an overlong/overstiff ejector spring. Given time it will wear and gradually throw brass in a more forward fashion. In your case ejection would move from 4 or 5 o'clock to 2 or 3 o'clock with wear.

By clipping the ejector spring you can tune the ejection pattern as far forward as you'd like. My CMP rifle makes a little puddle of brass at about 2 o'clock. This will require removing the ejector and clipping a coil, reassemble, shoot and possible repeat.

If you come hear and ask for help don't act like a dumbshit or start another thread thinking you only drew a bunch of morons with this one.

ETA: Fixed typo.

You're a real piece of work.  Since when is it OK to call people stupid?  A real tough guy on the internet.
I may be wrong but the information provided in that link says the EXACT opposite of what you're saying, thus my comment that apparently personally offended you some how.  Read it again.  Closely.  And grow the F up.  Oh, I don't know what a "sprint" is either.  Must be some insider term.

i have the LR-308T and i am and shoot left-handed. i broke it in without a scope and added one later and had no problems with brass either way. this was standing and sitting (to zero the scope in).

BTW, im very happy with my purchase.

those brass deflectors wont work on the elevated dpms rail very well.  i tried to use the high rise one but it mounts in the cutouts of the high rise upper.  the normal flat top one may work, but may be too short.  trim your ejector spring, or use the a3 upper.  my lr ejects to 2 oclock.
