my buddy just gave me an ACE fixed skeleton buttstock, but didn't have the spring/buffer to go with it.  just wondering what length buffer/spring i need to get for it. it's an A2 length.  i'm gonna put it on my DPMS 308 AP4.  also wondering if anyone else has this stock on an AP4, and how you like it

thanks--john

There are 2 different sizes of the ace stocks, one is (E) which is the short version, then there is the Standard version. The Standard version takes "rifle lenght" springs, tubes, buffer etc..

Hope this helps

i think it's the std length.  it's the same length as my 6 pos. car stock when i'ts fully extended.

I didn't care for the ARFX-E.  Mince wobbles in the receiver (rotates on the buffer tube) and the rubber on the butt pad was fragile.   In fact the orginal buttpad it came with had already torn through the rubber at the hard plastic backing pad, before I even handled the rifle.  The rubber was way too thin (and it is also very soft) where it covered the edges of its plastic backing.

I just ordered a Sully to try as a replacement.

call dpms and get the standard .308 spring and buffer

anything else and you will have problems

The best way to tell is to measure the inside depth of the buffer tube.

  • 9-1/2" = Rifle (A1)

  • 7" = Carbine

If it is a rifle-length stock, an AR10 rifle buffer and spring will work fine.

If it is a carbine stock, you will need a CAR-10 buffer and an AR10 rifle buffer spring.

I have all of these parts in stock.  If you need more information, please contact me via email.

ive used the ace skeletons for a few years, and they hold up fine.  mine required a little filing to fit the .308 receiver.
