Hey Everyone, I just loaded up a few rounds for the first time tonight. I used loading data that was sent to me by Marty ter Weeme. I am using IMR 3031 but the loads for this powder are really compressed once the bullet is seated. Has anyone used these IMR3031 loads? |
| Nothing wrong with compressed loads but I find I get better results with H110 because 3031 is a bit too slow in a case with such small capacity. I used 3031 in 500 gr. loads and found it gave inconsistent velocities whereas H110 in 350 gr. bullets or less gives about all the velocity you can get. For 500 gr. loads I got better results using 4198 IIRC. |
The 3031 loads were done by Spongeman, who liked to test the extremes. Best loads for 300/400 gr appear to be Re7, Win296, H110/H108, Lil Gun. Several other loads are being developed as well as strain gauge data. 4227 seems to hold promise and I will be comparing Re10x to Re7 in the near future. |

Do you have a best guess as to when this load data will be available? |

The Excel spreadsheet that we typically send out has Spongeman's data as a tabbed sheet. It likely is on the forum. Sponge himself has all but disappeared... As to the Re7 data, that should be out there already, or EMail me and I can send a sheet with our "shop pet loads". Not sure how soon I can get to the Re10x loads ... got a few uppers to build |
