[ARCHIVED THREAD] - DPMS quad rail

I took my .308 AP4 to the gunsmith today to get my JP forearm installed and we were unsure how the DPMS rail is attached to the upper receiver. It looked like the railed part screwed onto the outside of the barrel nut, but I was hoping someone could tell me for sure how to remove the factory rail. Thanks.

if you look in the tacked threads in the biy sec, theres an assembly of a yhm ff railed forearm. same thing. basically theres the railed tube, a lock ring, and the threaded barrel nut. if they cant get that off, i would not them messing with a jp.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I was able to get the handguard off in short order.
