Good Scope For an AP4?  Would like a mil dot or BDC with an illuminated reticle (I know this may be a problem with the shorter barrel), adjustable magnification, external knobs capable of adjustment, etc.

Obviously, these are some big buck options-so I'm looking to do this as cheaply as possible...

Thanks

I'm looking to get a TA11C for mine. Not sure about how the BDC will work out though...tag.

I went with the IOR 3x25.  It should be in tomorrow or Tuesday.  I'll let you know how it works on the AP4.

Im in the same boat, looking for some sort of scope but wanted to make sure which was best for it and if its worth putting it on a 16inch bbl

I put a IOR 2-12x32 on my AP4 and love it! It's kinda pricey and added another pound or so to the weapon, but damn if it doesn't work great. When its on 12x the center dot is about the size of a .30 hole @ 100yds,Hopefully get to try it out @ 400yds next week

I got the IOR 3x25 in today and am really pleased with it.  It is built like a tank, the controls are very positive and crisp and the clarity was very good.  At first it felt a little heavy, but it felt very good on the gun...much better than the 4x and riser block I had on there.

The reticle seemed odd at first and I really thought the thick ring would get in the way of good groups.  After getting it zeroed, I got back to back 1.25 inch groups at 100 yards.  The groups would have been smaller but I strung them vertically which I believe was my error.  Side to side the groups were 5/8 inch.  The reticle is great for close range shooting and was very quick.  Put the thick ring on target and press the trigger.  It really worked well.  Ammo was Wolf 150 grain.

The scope was definitely made for an AR.  I shoot nose to charging handle and the scope sits just low enough to force me to get a tight, very comfortable cheek weld.  When my nose is on the charging handle, the scope is perfectly in focus;  there is no hunting to find the sweet spot.

The scope looks good on an AR upper as well as it is centered over the receiver and is pretty compact.

The only negative I have is that I did not like how hard it was for me to get the target knobs adjusted.  The scope zeroed very easily, but I just could not keep from changing the zero when trying to zero the knobs.  It probably took me 20 rounds to get it right.   However when it was done, the knobs work very nicely.  The scope returned to zero every time I changed the settings and returned to zero.  The knobs are tight enough that I do not see it being a problem that they are not covered.  It was nice having the knobs exposed as I could dial in adjustments quickly to hit 6 x 8 steel plates out to 200 yards.

The illumination works great indoors and outside as soon as I got any cloud cover.

Overall, I am very pleased with the purchase.

Ok, thanks for the review Martens. Have you shot your XCR for groups?

My IOR 2-12x32 was $998 from USAOptics.net,they also have the 3x25,can't remeber the exact price, somewhere in the $500 range I think. The MP 8 reticle on the 2-12x32 is great, very similiar to a mil dot, but better!
