Currently have a DPMS Panther Bull 24 Special.  Amazingly accurate rifle.  I have read all the posts about the accuracy of the LR .308, but most of these have the 24" barrel.  I am considering the purchase of a DPMS LRT SASS.  Sweet looking rifle but a little pricey.  Am I going to lose much accuracy going down to the 18" barrel.

Does anyone have one of these who can comment on the rifle?

I guess I could have answered my own question about the 18" barrel.  I went back and read some more posts and found that people are getting great accuracy with their 18's.

Still would like to hear from anyone that has this particular rifle.

Barrel length has little effect on accuracy, just velocity.  Folks are shooting these 18" bbls at 1000yds with excellent results.

DPMS told me that the SASS bbls wouldn't be available for another 6-8 weeks, and they hadn't started building the SASS yet.

in regards to the barrels of the dpms SASS, i have noticed that they are not using the bull SS barrels used in the LR308, i wonder if they are going to be able to squeze as much accuracy out of a thinner profile barrel,

for some reason i think that once they start heating up, groups may open up more than with their lr308,

yes u need a least 22" for a .308 to properly stabilize for 11.25 twist rate, ur lose quite a bit going dowen to a 18" barrel. but is still going to be accurate.

DPMS 308 barrels are 1x10, if that matters.
