I am fairly new to the AR side of this forum, I just wanted to know peoples opinions on the Robinson Arms M96 RECON rifle.  Thanks in advance for your input.

I bought an Expeditionary Rifle June 2000 and couldn't be happier with it. It's a solid rifle, never experienced a feed jam, accurate, and almost no recoil. I was planning to purchase the Recon barrel kit but will changed my mind. My only gripe is the lack of a Bolt Hold Open button. Before you purchase an M96 take a look on the RobArms website at the new XCR.

There was an article in a Weapons for LE rag a couple of months ago with a M96 on the cover.  Anyway, they mentioned that the rifle they tested had the "optional" bolt release.  Looks like it was a little button integrated into the mag well, just above the mag release.  I'm wondering if it's an add-on option that you could retrofit now?

I've never shot an M96, saw one once though on the shelf.  I always thought they were cool.

The other thing that caught my attention was the article claimed that RA was working on a 6.8 conversion kit for the M96.  Nothing of that nature on their website, but if you could do a bolt and barrel change, that would be severely cool.
