Any Armalite guys on here anymore? I have a 20 inch AR-10T I built years ago, I basically want to swap the heavy and long 20 inch barrel for a carbine 16 inch barrel. I’m looking for a AR-10T carbine length free float or one of the old free float carbine quad rails

That one on the bottom is an AR-10b quad rail correct? If it is you want to part with it?

The one on the left was from the exceedingly rare SASS Carbine if I remember correctly.

LOVE this gun. Used it on 12/30/20 to take two does to fill the freezer for a while. Smooth shooting and convenient to carry.

Lower:

Aero M5 Lower
Aero M5 LPK - Trigger
Trigger is Mil-spec unit a member here supplied me with
Magpul MOE stock in FDE
Aero Buffer Kit

Upper:

Aero M5 Upper
Ballistic Advantage 20" .308 Modern Series Heavy Profile Barrel
Aero BCG
Radical Firearms Ghost Flash Hider
Strike Industries C/H with Extended Latch
Aero Gas Block
Expo Arms Rifle Length Gas Tube
Samson's New SXS-762 Lightweight 18" Handguard in M-Lok
Magpul FDE M-Lok Rail Covers

Optic:

Primary Arms GLX 20 MOA Scope Mount
Vortex PST 4-16 FFP MRAD Scope

The last picture is a picture of a 3-shot group at 100 yards off the bipod with no rear bag after sighting in. The group is with Hornady's Precision Hunter 178 ELD-X ammo.

I didn't do a 'break-in' procedure on the barrel, and the group was within the first 10 shots the rifle fired. Hoping for better groups as the barrel gets more used

Yeah, came off a complete upper I got direct from Armalite back around '08 or so.  When they said heavy barrel, they meant it.

New Frontier Armory C-10 multi chamber , 7.62x51 or .308 . 20" Barrel . Not really for MOUT type scenario's , a little heavy for that . More a over watch type weapon . Although as it sits , plus tactical vest with front and rear plates , 3 30 round mags ,  5 20 round mags , this 60 y.o. can still move pretty quick when it is advisable
It has now been updated with scope rings with Picatinny mounts on both sides and top , thus I have added a Reflex sight to top back ring . Zeroed at 400 yards . Shooting either 145 or 150 grain .

It’s one of the .mil trade-in refurb’d/retubed KVC PVS-30s KAC released about a year or so ago.  Haven’t been able to stretch it’s legs too far yet, but has amazing clarity the couple times I’ve had it out on targets at 500-600y.

6.5 Creedmoor build in progress. Battle Arms receiver set. 22" Spiral Fluted Bartlein barrel. V7 Weapon Systems Hyperlite 18" Rail System with Railscales KOS panels. Geissele High Speed National Match trigger. JP Enterprises LMOS 6.5 Creedmoor high pressure bolt carrier group. JP Enterprises AR10 silent buffer. .875" SLR Rifle Works titanium gas block. White Oaks rifle length +2" gas tube. Magpul UBR 2.0 stock with a Limbsaver SL buttpad. Elite Iron aluminum bipod system. Schmidt and Bender 5-25x56 optic on a Scalarworks LEAP 34mm 1.57" height mount. Small parts were drug thru the V7 Weapon Systems and Forward Design Concepts store to cut some weight here and there. BlueForceGear padded two point sling.

Receiver set, barrel and all steel and aluminum parts were NP3 plated. I disassembled the UBR stock completely and had all the aluminum and steel components inside plated. The Elite Iron bipod was fun to get apart and back together. The bolt carrier was so tight upon reassembly that it had to be massaged back together with a soft mallet and lube for half an hour. Now its smooth as glass.

Next step is to send some of the parts out for Cerakote. Since the rail couldn't be NP3 plated since its magnesium, I'm going to paint it silver to match the NP3. The KOS covers will then be painted Magpul FDE. The screws will be left in NP3. Probably going to have some of the bipod painted in FDE as well. Probably going to do the Scalarworks mount in silver. I'll probably have a few of the plastic parts painted to eliminate some of the black from the build.

The right hand side bolt release has been problematic. Still working with Battle Arms to try to resolve it. Their customer service is surprisingly not that great anymore. All week long their tech support number goes to voicemail and no on calls you back. As finicky as it is, they should have supplied a bolt catch that was designed to work with their proprietary detent system.

Short AR10 is fun as hell. I built a 12.5” and a 10.5”. They shoot phenomenally well suppressed. I wanted to use the SLR 7.5” barrel but got tired of waiting for it to come in stock and the rail options are extremely limited.

I have shot my 12.5” with an AAC SD6 and a DA Nomad-L, and the 10.5” with a Griffin Recce 7. I used adjustable blocks on both, and a 8.5oz buffer from Slash on the 10.5” build. The 12.5” wears a Trijicon TA11 and the 10.5” just got a Meopta 1-4 ZD.

Just picked this up. Armalite ar10 tac18. I have to say I’m in love with this gun. The gun just looks and feels tough. Ive only got to shoot one mag of steel case shells through it so far, but it preformed flawlessly. It seems like a really well built rifle. I changed the magpul STR for a BCM GF stock and I have a A1 and A2 flash hider on the way. Not sure which one I’ll leave on the gun yet. I will get almost the same OA length as the 16 inch barrel version when I change the compensator for a flash hider and shed some weight.

Just got this back from Cerakoting.
Stainless barrel pinned and welded to 16.1" Cerakoted black.
Upper and lower Burnt Bronze.
MBT 2 Stage trigger.
Primary Arms 4-14 ACSS scope.
Should I have the scope a little further back?

If it's optimal for you at that current location, then leave it right there.

Besides, everyone is different. Just look at those that want absolute, lower 1/3, or at giraffe neck height.

it depends on the eye relief of the scope, and whether you shoot with your nose on top of the charging handle, or further back.

Thanks for the replies. I tried moving the scope back and it it easier to get an eye relief. I'm going to shoot it tomorrow or Saturday.
