So we recently learned that MLOK beats Keymod as tested by NSW Crane.
SOCOM wants a mid length gas system for Block 3 with an MLOK rail. But how strong are the rails? DD RIS is heavy and battle proven but has a rather thin Barrel nut sandwiched between the rail and mounting plate. So far as I know Geiselle has long been thought the strongest rail with its 2.25" Bbl nut on the SMR series. They now have the MK13 & Mk14 with slightly shorter Bbl nuts. The BCM KMR nut is not far behind the Geiselle, probably comparable to the MK13/14. Noveske/SMOS system is slightly behind them, and then we have the wedge systems. KAC is in here somewhere but I have no idea where. How strong does a rail have to be to rip keymod off and exactly what is the pecking order of rail strength to weight?? FYI I am talking longest rail available, at least 13", preferably 15". The longer the arm the better the data. |
