How durable are these rails. I have one right now on my one and only AR and was wondering if I should upgrade to giessle mk8

Keep the BCM.  It has a nice locking system and is much more durable than the initial KMR.

Edit:  Nice video on it here

I wondered this before myself and was somewhat surprised. I had just put on my rail and was doing something in the garage. I knocked it off the table and it slammed into a big piece of metal before it hit the ground. I was sure before I even picked it up that I had probably done some major damage to it. I was pleasantly surprised that it had a small scuff in the finish and that was all. It hit pretty hard for only falling 4 feet or so.

I think you should sell it. I picked up lots of used KMR in the EE. Hope to pull some Alphas too.

How about this... the Alpha is no stronger than my regular KMR, other than the finish being slightly tougher. If you don't like the regular KMR, ditch the alpha.

The Alpha rail definitely seems more durable than the original and it has a better finish. My original 13'' KMR had a lot of flex compared to my newer alpha.

It is most definitely more durable that the standard KMR.  The material used on the original was extremely brittle (I know first hand after managing to snap off one of the anti-rotation tabs on a 10" model).

There was a reason BCM made the switch and a tougher finish wasn't the sole reason.

Are the rail lengths accurate on these? as in a 10" is exactly 10" from upper receiver to end of rail?

No, they're longer than advertised.

If I had a KMR I'd ditch it for a MK8 or a MK4.

I have all three and I would not trade it....the KMR is light has a great lockup...it's a handguard...

I'd be all over a KMR Alpha MLOK.  Keymod is inferior.

Until then, ALG EMR V3!

Keymod is just fine.

KMR-A is an excellent option
