GUYS I just bought a ALG EMR M-LOK RAIL  so today when it came in the mail I couldn't wait to install it. giving it a real good looking over I discovered a major problem with it..................... you all know it has the specific barrel nut right ? well this barrel nut is floppy loose on the rail. and these little screws will never keep it tight. on the geissle youtube viedo with him insatalling it he brags about what a tight fit it is even before the screws...................... well mine is floppy loose. gonna call alg Tuesday and see what there gonna do about mine. so far this product IMO IS TO BE AVOIDED................................... and when the aluminum rail heats up its gonna be extremely loose as it expands............... jmo

This isn't a review, this is just you bashing a product.  You know fully well that ALG and Geissele stand behind their products and will get you a new one ASAP.

From what you have written, you didn't even full install the item.

My ALG rails have been 100% excellent, fit and finish. One I had to use a rubber mallet to lightly tap on the rail to get it on the barrel nut all the way. Amazing quality for the price.

Call them and try to get it straightened out before bashing it, no company is exempt for making a lemon occasionally, it happens

Mine was really tight before the screws were installed. Give them a call, and if you have a caliper, give them the rail I..D. and nut O.D.

Mine needed some persuasion to slide on as well.
Solid mounting, rigid, light, affordable, good feel in the hand.
All accounts (not many) I've read have their CS being very good.

+2 And while it is just the OP's opinion, it would have been nice for them to at least complete the install, or given ALG a chance to make it right. Out of all the rails and great positive reviews, this I think is the first negative ones I've seen.

lol.  Not really a tech thread.  Call Geissele and they'll fix it.  They have some of the best CS in the industry.

This is of course assuming you were putting everything together correctly.  After your rambling, nearly incoherent OP, that seems up in the air at this point.

[#14]
Mine was nearly an interference fit.  Very close tolerances.

I actually would have preferred a DD MFR, but alas, they've been discontinued.

One thing that I didn't care for was the necessity to have the nut absolutely perfect to align the rail with the upper.  Having an asymmetric bolt pattern bothered me a bit too, but that's just a "me" problem and has nothing to do with the quality or design.
9/4/2016 7:37:24 AM EDT
[#15]
Mine is very snug without screws and the machining is excellent.

Forget installing the rail, how about OP finishes and makes a complete sentence. This thread is dildos.

Remember back in the olden days when we had to use the original barrel nut and time it?  Every time I have to time a barrel nut now I think something is wrong.

Right?

The geissele and SLR barrel nut attachments have me spoiled. Literally a 5 minute job.

When I carefully consider the quality of every aftermarket AR component I have experienced, the ALG EMR barrel nut-to-rail fit stands out as one of the most precisely done pieces of machine work. A light friction fit (in every one that I have) it is very close to a true interference/press fit, and it is my favorite attachment method, to date.
9/4/2016 10:02:13 PM EDT
[#20]
So you never actually installed it? The barrel nut swelled for me when torqued down properly, which made it a tight fit.
9/5/2016 3:30:27 PM EDT
[#21]
that is not a review OP its just bashing a solid company,if there is an issue give them a chance to correct it..I understand they have great CS but I've never needed to use it.
I picked up 2 V3 rails during the 7/4 blem sale, still don't know what the blem was? they look very nice.

Both of the rails/barrel nuts were well machined with a nice snug fit,I was wondering if the shim setup was going to be a pain but the instructions were simple and easily followed and the only issue was getting the wrench on the barrel nut,I wasn't expecting such a nice fit between them but that was a me problem not a them problem

I would buy another without hesitation.

Buddy of mine built 2nd AR as cheap as he possibly could:  bought Anderson complete lower on super sale, got a barrel from someone for $25, but splurged on ALG handgaurd.  Don't know if it shoots at all, but it sure felt really good in the hands, nice and light, solid as a rock.  I'm going with ALG on my go-to gun.

I bought one of the first mlok rails ALG did, someone in quality needs to check their fixtures that machine the tapped holes on the barrel nut, most of the holes did not have lead in chamfers, and most were not tapped 90 degrees to the center, some were off by as mush as 5 degrees, most less than that, it looked as though someone forgot to full clamp it down in the machine before tapping, or Billy Bob did it with a hand drill

I emailed them and they basically said they would sell me a new barrel nut for $35 plus shipping, the rail was only $100 pretty sure they should have covered it but whatever, their business their rules

took my business elsewhere, hope you get a better resolution than i did

With my past experience with Geissele from both military and personal sides, I simply don't believe that they gave you that response.

What a joke of a review; I'm calling bullshit.

I had to tap mine into place on the barrel nut with a rubber mallet. Probably could have run it lightly without the screws. If yours actually was that loose I'd contact them and arrange for a replacement which Bill and Ashley wouldn't even hesitate to do.

I had the same problem with the same rail.  I like to never got the screws started.  Finally got one started, then another on the same side.....then the holes didn't exactly line up on the other side.  I dicked around with it and finally got all the screws in, but I hope to hell I don't have to take that rail off anytime soon.

ETA:  My rail did fit perfectly tight onto the barrel nut, just as it should have.  Had to finagle it on a bit, but no problem with the fit.

Same happened with me, it was fine off the gun, installed the barrel nut and I thought I was never going to get the damn rail seated all the way on. Now I hope it never has to come apart because I dont know how the rail is going to come off.  Hell I probably could have left the screws off to save weight, its that tight.
