Was at gun show and picked up an AR FIFTEEN lower by AR Five Seven. I read posts of people buying them, but none on actually building and shooting. Some posts suggest they are made by Aero Precision, which I am inclined to believe,as there is the hole for a screw in grip area for tightening up the lower to the upper. And that the AR Five Seven guns didn't sell as well as expected, and the lowers were sold on the market.
I bought a Stag lower a few weeks ago, but the finish didn't even come close to matching any uppers I have, was more of a rough anodized finish, and this one is more smooth, and has some neat groves cut in the front of the magwell. They were selling things for 10% off and got this for $51.30 out the door. Was thinking I should contact them and buy another one, but first wanted to get reviews on them. I went for an Anderson lower which normally are $60 plus tax, but they were out of stock, then I saw these. Anyone build one yet? |

Found it on Budsgunshop.com, has a couple bad reviews, several good, might be hit or miss. Sounds like if yours is good to go, you have an excellent price, Buds was sold out but sold them for 90 bucks, Red Barn is sold out as well and sold them for 100 bucks. Glad you found that,,, not going to buy another one... if I have to drill or grind a bit on it, it's ok for a beater I guess. Time will tell as I install parts... |

Everything went easy, till I got to the safety, it didn't want to go all the way thru, even tho it would start from either side, gave it a hard push, it went thru, and was as it should be. Maybe a burr or something,,
Got to the grip, and it would not go on after about 1/2 inch. It started peeling the material back inside the grip (Magpul). Tried an A2 grip, it would not even start to go on. I measured the width, and it was around 38-.39, compared to a Stag which is around .37. Sanded the inside of the grip, didn't help much, started sanding the lower on the grip area.. is helping, but is slow going. Waiting on Dremel to charge... going to sand a bit with that, as my thumb is getting sore. I forced it almost all the way on once, but afraid the pressure might make the grip split at some point. Not sure the extra work is worth the $10-15 savings over another brand.... |

If you have a small hammer, you can tap that grip on with no problem at all, I have had to do it on a few lowers, it depends on how the anodizing laid down in that area. You are not going to split a grip, not if it was made correctly. I tapped it on,,, and all seems well. All that's left is the trigger guard, and going to wait on a magpul or something that will give more room for a gloved finger..Thanks for the advice. |
