I am looking to get a complete upper, but I can't decide either a 14.5 or 16 mid length upper.
Any recommendations or experiences? Thanks, |

Had a 14.5". Got rid of it. They're great if you never plan on changing not just muzzle devices, but rails/hand guards also.
If you'll be perfectly happy with that set up the rest of your uppers life, 14.5 is fine. The saved inch isn't worth it to me. If There was no NFA, sure, I would go with the 14.5 on some rifles, but for me it's just not worth it. |

14.5 feels handier to me...even more than what I expected. If you the type of person that likes to change muzzle devices or handguards, then a 16" might be better.
If you get a pinned 14.5 and later decide you want some total different setup, you could always sell the barrel and handguards...or sell the whole upper. |

If I were only going with one rifle for general purpose it would be a 16" mid gassed with medium-lt wt barrel.
Unless I were going to run it suppressed I would go with a simple birdcage flash hider. There are a number of good barrels out there to choose from in an equal number of price configurations. |

I'm a big fan of their lightweight uppers, the Enhanced if you think it's worth the extra coin. Tomac Quoted:

Should I go with a Standard BCM upper or the BCM BFH upper? I'm a big fan of their lightweight uppers, the Enhanced if you think it's worth the extra coin. Tomac Sorry for the question, but what is difference in the "standard enhanced" , "standard" and the "BCM BFH"? I see all three listed as different upper in 14.5. Thanks |
| Depends on what you want. Before I gave it to my partner for a patrol rifle, my favorite was the 14.5" midlength lightweight with the standard FSB. It is an amazing rifle. I do have a 14.5" ELW and it is crazy light. Not to far from me is a guy with multiple 14.5" uppers and he is converting to KMR Alpha's and Troy Omega's. He really likes the Alphas. |

Thanks Standard = Standard barrel profile. Enhanced = Tapered barrel; thicker near the chamber, tapering towards the muzzle. BCM BFH = Hammer forged barrel, supposedly provides longer barrel life. Their standard lightweight mid-length bbls have been great for my needs (YMMV) but if I had lots of cash I have to admit I'd like to try an ELW BFH middy. Tomac |

Tomac The standard in relation to the uppers is in reference to the type of barrel, not the profile. The BFH is hammer forged, the standard is not. |
