Hi all,

I searched and couldn't find all of the information I was looking for so forgive me if this is covered elsewhere.

I am hoping that a couple people who might have factory dimpled KAC barrels would be willing to take some measurements for me.

1) Barrel Diameter forward of gas block and rear of gas block
2) Dimple Diameter
3) Dimple Depth
4) Number of dimples in the same plane around the barrel. If rotating the barrel around the bore axis, how many dimples are there before you repeat on the same line?
5) Distance from the center of 1 dimple to another down the barrel lengthwise

I know Marvin Pitts and several others have done their own dimpling patters, I am hoping that someone can measure a real KAC dimpled barrel for comparison.

Thanks much!

You would probably get a better response in the KAC industry forum section.
Another thing is they did dimples on 5.56 models and 7.62. I figure your asking about the 5.56 one, which was a 14.5" barrel and a special run of 11.5's.
Another thing to mention about Marvin is he used to work for Knights, and I think had a large hand in the design or execution of the dimple program. Myabe both. I sent him a 12.5 Noveske barrel he had dimple for me. Excellent work.

Marvin Pitts is the one that did the KAC barrels.  He has permission to do them on the side (its patented), that is why ADCO did a different configuration.  I've had Marvin do some for me and does great work, you should realize it is more of a novelty thing then anything else.

I was looking for the specs on a 5.56 14.5" barrel done by KAC.

I have spoken to Marvin before about the KAC dimpling and it was my impression that his pattern or size is slightly different then KAC due to patents/licensing issues.
I know it doesn't do much besides lighten the barrel slightly - mostly novelty.
