I am finding that the offerings for Keymod-specific rail sections are somewhat limited. Can I buy regular rail sections (like the ones that fit Magpul MOE handguards) and install them on a Keymod rail, using the proper Keymod hardware, or is the hole spacing different? Thanks.

BCM is the place you seek. I wouldn't try to retro fit anything. With Keymod being in spec is important and BCM does it right.

Thanks for the reply. I don't have a section of KM rail to look at (have a KM handguard on a rifle though) but I do have several pieces of MOE- compatible rail laying around so to save a buck or two, I wanted to find out if I could use those with KM hardware.

I did a quick YouTube search and it looks like the KM rail sections themselves have round protrusions on the bottom that, when the rail is slid forward, drop into the round holes and further secure the rail to the handguard. Regular rail sections are totally flat on the bottom, so even if the holes do line up, they probably wouldn't be ideal.

Exactly. However, I have read about people using Mlok rails or accessories on a KM handguard and tightening those T nuts on the inside of the rail. I wouldn't personally do it but you could try.

I'm good. KMR was a poor attempt at a rail that that failed and there was an attempt to cover up the issues.

Yeah, I'll probably just go with BCM. They have never let me down yet. I looked on their site and their stuff is not all that much more expensive than the airsoft junk on Amazon.

Explain.

To the OP: I highly recommend direct mount hardware if you can. But I think you won't find anything better than BCM for the picatinny rail sections, due to the "anti-snag" factor they make by sloping the front/rear portions. They have a poly section for non-load bearing and aluminum for those that carry weight. I have a poly section that came with my rifle I never plan to use (thanks to direct mount hardware for my scout light).

I know I read that the earlier KMR handguard had issues with warping or something when heated after rapid fire. Could be what he's talking about?

Otherwise I don't think the OP wanted to know anything about their handguard, just where to get quality Keymod accessories.

Maybe, but any metal can warp with enough heat.

This!

Just buy BCM keymod accessories.  They have just about everything you would need and are top notch.  I have a BCM Mod 3 VFG on my Keymod rail.  Its very tight and doesnt move at all.
