Good morning,

New member here and just purchased my first AR, Daniel Defense V11 SLW in Tornado, very sweet gun. I wanted to see what the over all opinion was of anyone who owns a Daniel Defense or has shot one with the stock trigger? I really like it but I have never shot anything but stock triggers in my guns or my friends. I see a lot of posts on here about upgrading the trigger and was wondering why that is?

Thanks,

Schmidt tooling is the company they get their blanks from. They are generally known as a top notch company with knights, colt, spikes, white oak, ALG, and BCM all using their blanks for their mil spec triggers. That being said it is a mil spec trigger which is designed for reliability and safety of carry, not for crispness or target shooting.

The stock milspec trigger is just that, a milspec trigger. It's crap.

If you want to know why so many people uograde their triggers, buy a Geissele SSA-E to try for yourself and report back.

My DDm4v5 came with a terrible mil spec trigger.  Super gritty.  It now carries a G SSA

My DDM4v1 has the best stock trigger I've ever used, super clean pull and break no creep and not heavy. It ended up getting an SSA anyways as I had an extra lying around.

I'm going to give mine a chance to break in a little before I look at replacing it... However a friend has a Geissle on theirs and it is night a day difference

I have a DD M4V7 is 300 Blackout. The trigger is good but not great.

I have a DDM4v7 LW, and the stock trigger was actually plenty good for my needs.  The stock trigger was actually quite crisp, not really heavy; I could hit with it no problem.  That said, the Geissele curiosity got me, bought and SSA, and I never went back.  I put an SSA-E in my recent build, and it's even better than the SSA.

The only change I made on my DD was the trigger. I went with another SSA-E and very happy with it. I just don't care for the feel and pull of Mil Spec trigger.

I think that's a very good idea. There are a lot of good shooters who do great work with stock triggers. You can always upgrade later.

Same here. Great gun, but trigger was crap, and had an 8 pound pull.

I have the same as yours..... Only a few hundred rounds through it so far... I want to break it in before I think about changing the trigger
