Is it any good for a low $ upgrade?

Quoted: Joe Bobs has the cheapest Hiperfire for around $88 shipped. I would spend the extra for the Larue on most builds. If I wanted an extremely short reset budget trigger I would get the Blue trigger from Red Barn Armory. Good 3.5lb single stage with a reset shorter than an SD3G. About half the reset of a EDT. They are debadged Black Rain Ordinance triggers made by Rise Armament. Very good deal for $99. |

Which one is low $? What type of shooting do you plan on doing? The Larue MBT on sale for $125 is the best deal going for a general purpose trigger right now. Quoted:

If you want a single stage the EDT is a pretty good design that implements a full power hammer spring. Very smooth, a bit of creep, but it's in no way gritty. It feels better with the green springs, but I had to run the red spring on mine because I have it in a 7.62x39 build. The green spring wasn't strong enough to ignite the primers every time (This happens with stock AR15 triggers as well - I used a Wolff XP spring with the stock trigger before I got the EDT). One of the changes with the EDT3 is adding mass to the hammer to prevent this problem. The MBT comes with two trigger springs now. For your needs I would probably put the heavier trigger spring on for a more pronounced reset. Normally they are $199, but Mark has them on pre-order for $125 right now. I've got three of them and two more on order. I would definitely take an EDT over the ALG ACT, BCM's new duty trigger, PSA or Spikes nickel boron triggers. FWIW, I measured the reset on my EDT at .08", my SD3G was about .077" (Geissele states they should be .06")and my Blue trigger was .044". So the EDT is no slouch if your looking for a short reset. |
