I picked up a Barrel upper from my friend and FFL the other day and had a question on the hand-guards.
They  seem to be big, or wide to me, Do they made a thinner one?
Also is this what they call a Car hand guard?
On my full length rifle the hand guards are slimmer.

Thanks,
strangms

Check out Magpul's new SL (Slim Line) mid-length hand guard: https://www.magpul.com/products/moe-sl-hand-guard-mid-length

They look like the Cav Arms C6 midlength handguards.  They are fat all the way out to the retainer.  The Cav Arms C8 handguards are tapered just like rifle length handguards, and a majority of the big name vendors offer a A2 style tapered midlength handguards.

It is an "M-4 style" that is longer in length to be a 'mid length' (vs. M-4 which is carbine length)

A-2 style handguards are round (as opposed to your tall 0-val shape) and smaller in circumference.

OP your handguards look like they're on backwards, the usual taper toward the front is not there. Is that just how those handguards are?

Thanks for all your help guys, as you can tell, I'm still learning.
I have no idea if they are on backwards, is there a way to tell for sure?

Read the previous replies - it's the way they are made.

OP; if you like the traditional tapered hand guards but want the slimmest mid-lengths, the Armalites are what you want.

I liked the regular MOE grip better.

Does B5 make a midlength?

OP, those are Cav Arms thick profile handguards, yes they are larger than typical.

The Armalite standard handguards are previously mentioned are the thinnest of the "standard" type handguards.

If B5 makes a midlength, they should be very thin.

The Magpul MOE SL handguard is very slim and also extends forward to cover the underside of the front sight base. You already have a round handguard cap which is necessary for the MOE SL.

Yes B5 does make a mid-length but they feel cheap, really cheap. The Keymod slots definitely aren't strong enough to hold anything and they really don't fit together well. I was really disappointed and ended up getting MOE hand guards which are fat and heavy.

B5's are the slimmest. Followed by RRA middy's, followed by Cav C8's (which are the same as Armalites).
The slimmest "stock looking" middy's are RRA's (I have them and others, and the difference is quite noticeable). The only issue is RRA heat shields suck (they are flimsy and shaped weird), I now prefer the C8's over the RRA's simply because the C8's have a MUCH better heat shield in them.
B5's are the slimmest, by far, but are not your typical "stock" looking handguards.
MP "slimline" are kind of slim width wise, but not vertically (plus they require you to ditch your "standard" triangle cap for a carbine round cap. No go in my book).

Once again guys, thanks for the help.
The ones that I have now seem to be strong, but just a little thick.
I would like it to be thinner, but it has to be strong and function correctly.

The Magpul looks like it might be worth checking into.

First thing I did with my middie was swap to a magpul hand guard. Much better feel and looks great in that length.

I really like the shape of the regular Magpul handguards, I wish they had the extended front like the SL models.

Another question,
Will a hand guard with triangle end fit in a round end cap?

Thanks
