I've been hearing quite a bit of negative feedback about Rock River Arms. Especially, after their sale on triggers a couple of months ago, where they charged arbitrary amounts for shipping without providing a quote prior. I bought 2 triggers from them and didn't care about $17 shipping charge, even though I knew it was excessive.
But today I got the 3rd trigger from them and I'm disappointed. The trigger is used (clear wear marks on all components) and poorly machined. 2nd stage has a ton of sponginess and creep. I emailed them Friday. Today, to my surprise, I got a call from them. Long story short, they blame my lowers and won't warranty it until they get it in and check it out (I have to ship on my dime). This is in contrast to the service I've received from Alpha, S&W, Windham, even PSA. Does anyone have positive experience with this company's customer support? I have a feeling that in the end, after calls/emails/bs, I will be out of $35 and no trigger. |
| I have a factory RRA 10.5" SBR that has been flawless and accurate. The original BCG worked fine, but it ejected forward so I replaced it with one from BCM an now it ejects right about 04:00. The only reason I really cared about that was so I could pick up my brass without being in front of the firing position. I've also got a few more rifles pieced together with their lowers because I like the way they fit with uppers. No problems. |
|
The only order I have placed with RRA ...
- parts are fine but nothing I cannot get anywhere else, - communication was definitely lacking, never got a tracking number forwarded to me and never responded to my request for one, - shipping was slow and pricey. No plans to order directly from them again, possibly through a third party if its something useful to me, but not otherwise. My $.02. |

I've had a RRA 16" mid-length for 4-years and it's been flawless and very accurate. I ordered it from them direct. It has a standard trigger that is smooth as silk and brakes clean as glass.
You might want to take your issue to the RRA Industry section here on ARFCOM. I've found that the RRA Mod. in that section is very helpful at resolving things for any of us. Here's the link: http://www.ar15.com/forums/f_2/38_General_Discussions.html |
| I have several RRA rifles, but the newest is over 10 years old. Back then they were top tier IMHO and I was very happy to have their stuff. I realize that a vocal pissed off minority can have an effect on the perception of a business all out of proportion to their actual importance, but the flip side is that vocal minority got pissed off by something, real or imagined. Smoke does not always mean fire, but the odds are for it. |
| I have several RRAs. One of the finer black rifle manufacturers in the market. Mine are all way more accurate than I am, fit and finish is perfect on every one. All have RRA 2 stage varmint triggers except one which I put a Geissele SSA-E in. The RRA 2 stage is EVERY bit as good as Geissele and they always go boom! |
|
I've owned two of their complete rifles. Both ran well, and both were shooters. I've also owned about five total RRA two-stage NM triggers, two of which were in the rifles mentioned above. They are good triggers for the money, especially when had for under $100. I like their LPKs as well. Rock River is G2G.
|
| I know I picked up one of their NM triggers from Primary Arms last year and I could not for the life of me get the thing to fit in my Yankee Hill lower. After checking the interwebs I saw that some people had to press or beat the trigger pins into place with those triggers. Since I live in a crapy state that made the set up I was working on illegal to buy, there was no way I was going to potentially mess up my lower. There are way to many good triggers out there for that mess. |
|
I've only purchased some parts from them and had no problems in product or usage. Complete A2 stock kit and RRA's 2-stage NM trigger kit.
Anybody getting the RRA's National Match trigger assembly, should know and in case you don't, RRA uses .156 pins for this trigger kit. This does require hammering(tapping firmly) in the pins. Snug is an understatement, but it works. |
|
I have purchased a lot of small parts and parts kits from them in the past, and always found them to be of good quality... I did have one hammer that didn't have the 'J' pin in it, and when I contacted them, they sent me a j pin to install myself.. staking that without the proper tool is a pain in the ass... I think the correct response should have been to ship a new hammer or allow me to send the hammer back so they could install it rather than just sending out the pin... I still order from them on occasion, but am more open to going with others such as DD for small parts... ![]() |

I've got 3 or 4 of their triggers. Love them. No issues.
I've bought a couple of barrels and they were great as well. Had issues with a matched barrel and bolt (tight headspace) and just swapped the bolt out with one in another rifle that was on the "loose" side and both were good to go after that. |

Quoted: I bought a RRA government model in 2004, by 2013 I had well over 20k rounds downrange and 7 of those were with no cleaning. RRA is GTG, anyone tells you different is to be ignored. Times change. They used to be great, and my first 3 AR builds used RRA LPKs with their 2-stage triggers. Then Newtown happened, and they let QC hit the skids in order to move more product at higher prices faster. Unusable MIM parts. "INSPECTED" Parts kit missing parts. I also had a third post-Newtown issue where they put a bull barrel on an upper instead of the M4 barrel I ordered. I fixed that on my own by ordering the barrel I wanted and selling the bull on the EE. They've really jumped the shark. It doesn't matter what they produced in 2004 since the OP can't travel back in time and buy from them back then. He's stuck buying the crap they're putting out now, with the crappy QC they're putting into it now, supported by the crappy CS they're offering now. |

My RRA has never stopped. Having said that, fark RRA. They stopped shipping to NY BEFORE the SAFE act was passed. They don't deserve a single dollar IMO. That would be an incorrect statement. I was sitting in my hotel room at the SHOT Show watching the SAFE Act's passage through the state senate on C-SPAN, and was calling both RRA and our attorney in NY the next morning while the state assembly was voting on passage as well. Final determination was made more than a week later after counsel could read what the legislature had passed (without reading it) and make hi sreport to RRA ownership. We shipped everything we could legally do so into NY prior to SAFE Act passage, and prioritized shipments in the closing days to try to get it there in time. We continue to ship many products into NY yet today. Steve/RRA |

I was trying to stock up before the law passed. And 2. All one has to do is google this topic and the results are overflowing with complaints of the same nature. Shit, I saw a thread from this site Come up as one of the search results. Not to mention two gun shops in Tochester specifically told me the same thing. Was it all a big conspiracy? I know someone who's order you cancelled and refunded his money. So either your not telling the truth now or during that time period your employees were going rogue concealing orders and lying on the phone. Which one is it? Rest assured I'll never let people forget about that. |
| I've owned Colts and RRA's and one WOA upper. The RRA's have always been more accurate. And they run just fine. But I haven't bought anything from them in the last 10 years, so..... things can change with companies. Kind of sucks if it did though. They had a rep for good quality. Their 1911's were supposedly, the sh&*. |
|
My first AR was a RRA 16" carbine length gun, now has about 4000 rounds down the pipe (I know, small potatoes compared to some of you) and have never had a hickup. It's been a great gun and I have no plans to get rid of it.
Sorry to hear about your poor experience. |

Maybe contact Steve, here in the industry section. He's always been very responsive. |
