I've had my gold trigger for 2.5-3 years and haven't had any problems with it. I went to the range yesterday and noticed that every time after disengaging the safety, the next trigger pull was at least 20lbs if not considerably more. This is great for flinch training but not so much for good shots. It would also do this without ever engaging the safety but that was uncommon.
I took it out of the lower once I got home and couldn't find any obvious cause for the issue. I did notice though that if I pushed the trigger forward while pulling the hammer back, though not far enough that it would catch in the rear sear, the hammer would catch on a lower sear (if that is what you would call it) which would take away the first stage completely. It's possible that this just makes the first stage very heavy so that when you pull through it the second stage is still at ~1.5lbs and I blow straight past it. Their support is closed today as well as all next week so I figured I would sign up here and see if any of you had any possible solutions. Let me know if you need anymore information and I'll see if I can give it to you. Thanks. |

Sounds like you are releasing off of the "interceptor sear" or what you are calling the lower sear. It will fire off of the interceptor sear but with more lbs of force required and you will loose the first stage.
Watch this video from AR Gold and see if it helps you determine what is happening and contact them in a week. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v_Gjklakk0U |

Yes that does cause cause the trigger pull to be heavier but I really don't think it is supposed to be anywhere near as heavy as it can be after disengaging the safety. It is heavy enough to the point that I would say it is somewhat dangerous. Further, I'm not dropping the gun before shooting it so that interceptor sear shouldn't be coming into play in the first place.
I just got back from my brothers house after letting him take a look at it outside of the gun (he was with me at the range yesterday experiencing the same issue) and he knows quite a bit more about firearms than myself. Neither one of us could see anything that looked out of place. We also took the safety out of his LWRC and dropped it in mine to see if something was wrong with my safety but had the same troubles with his in my rifle that we did with mine. Any other suggestions? Thanks |
