I'm running a Diamonhead VRS-T 13.5" rail on my rifle. I dig the rail, but it is pretty slippery when I try to pull the rifle into my shoulder. My thumb digging into the pic rail up top provides the only real friction in the equation. I know I could toss a VFG or handstop of some kind on there but I like the idea of having this really long, flat surface in case I need to fire off a car hood or other flat object, very stable. The grip or handstop would ruin that characteristic, and introduce a pivot point when trying to rest the rifle on the rail.
Any suggestions? Wrap it with some kind of tape? Throw on a VFG and not worry about the pivot point? Appreciate any input. |

Accessory Rails and Rail covers... if I understand your issue that's the solution. You'd probably like the ladder style ones. That way you have options if you do decide to mount up something like a barrier stop or grip stop or try different covers until you are happy...
Or Diamondhead does make bumpers that mount onto their rails. Sort of goofy looking, but if they work for you they work for you... |

The issue is the bottom portion of my VRS-T Handguard is pretty slick. Has little finger grooves but nothing to really get a good purchase on. I'm fine with the 12 o'clock pic rail, just need to figure out a way to introduce some friction into the bottom of the handguard...hopefully without messing up that nice long, flat surface you can rest the rifle on.
Make better sense? |

Skateboard tape, or for something just a bit less aggressive try rubber traction tape from one of the home improvement stores.
You can also find traction paint in various colors if you want to stick with basic black. "Good Grip" is a ready made spray, "Clear Grip" and "Sharkgrip" are additives that can be mixed into paints when camouflaging. |

You could add a few rail sections to add purchase. I use skateboard tape, small strips do surprisingly well.
In a pinch spray adhesive works too. I was at a competition and forgot that I cleaned the handguards... no skateboard tape. So I just rolled up a target around the barrel (under the handguard) and gently hit it with some 3M 77. I'm not trying to be debbie-downer here, but if you don't find that your equipment suits you, you should probably change it out for something that does. |

Like a cheese graded! Need to find some less aggressive stuff. Maybe hockey stick tape or something like that. |

This is truly a case of "a picture is worth a thousand words." Of my handguard? Just a stock DH VRS-T. Well, there are about a thousand handguard options out there and chances are very high most of us run something else and have never seen your model or can't remember what it looks like. Think about this from our point of view. |

Yeah, skateboard tape seems to be the best solution. Or black rubberized bands? Though bands may not be very durable and may move too much. |

Thank you. Nice looking rail. There seems to be built in changes in contour to facilitate grip. Skateboard tape might work. I'd just use a light, thin glove on the support hand, (Mechanix type), because most modular rails will heat up a bit if you shoot very much, anyway. |

Skateboard deck tape.... you can get it in larger sheets and trim it as you like. It's got a high friction surface, and it's designed to be removable when it wears out. Skateboard tape is what I've been using since I bought my first slick type rail and it has treated me well attaining a positive grip, especially when it's raining out. Cheap enough to give a try. ETA: Missed the post where you addressed the skateboard tape. It does smooth down some over time but, I honestly do not find it as bad as a full quad rail with no rail protectors. |

Gonna try out a few other options and in the end may toss on a VFG or handstop of some type. |
