I have no clue what so ever when it comes to purchasing a lower, can anyone help fill me in? What are good traits to look for? What should I look for in a lower? I would like to know as much as possible before buying one. Thanks!

Just make sure it's a forged 7075-T6 A2 lower. That's all you need to know.

Pay the extra $20-40 so the risk of getting a lemon is highly reduced. With FFL fees, having to put it on paper, and your time; you DON'T want to get a bad one.

Forged 7075, mil spec sized. Actual military spec receiver is preferable.

I prefer a 7075 T6 milspec lower. There are some out there that are exactly that but cost more than one advertised as the exact same thing. For the money I would go with a PSA. Other than that you may pay more, for nothing gained (there are exceptions), or you can pay less and maybe get one a bit out of spec. Best bet is to go with a reputable company, and pick a logo you like. If you don't care what the logo looks like, find one that's convenient for you. I like to see what my  LGS has in stock to avoid  FFL  fees.
