I have tried to follow the C7 upper around and it gets confusing for me ( maybe to some others also).
I thought I had an understanding for a while. I own a few of them and have used some of them on semi-retro builds. Question(s): Does it belong in retro or does it belong in A2? AS I follow it around in the threads no one really wants it there. It appears to be the red-headed step child. ( Please, No offense to Red-Headed step children ) Now that the other uppers are beginning to disappear on the market all that is out there is the C7 receivers in a price range for most to buy. Does it need a place of its own or is the retro group or A2 group willing to claim it? It really needs an official home to live............It needs to feel the "LOVE" Do we just need to leave it alone and let it work it's way thru the threads. What do most of you think? Thanks Ron |

I wanna do this to my 6933 I just picked up an A1 stock, and another grip...I am likely doing a 14.5 SBR next. Can't decide between it, or an 11.5 We will have to meet at Brichwood when you get your 6933 done!! |

The Diemaco C7 used by the Canadian military is a part of Colt's M16A2 family.
A "C7 upper" is an upper specific to use on the Diemaco C7, or in similar configuration, 20" government profile barrel, 1/7 RH twist, A2 compensator, etc. The proper term as used by Colt for an upper receiver with both a case-deflector and field sights (the type used on the M16A1, e.g.) is an "A2 upper with field sights." My personal recommendation for "shorthand" has been "A2/FS." If you're building a replica of an M16A2-family weapon utilizing the A2/FS upper, then it belongs in the A2 subforum. If you're building a replica M16A1 rebuild with an A2/FS upper to replace a damaged A1 upper, then the Retro subforum would be appropriate. If you're just talking about random builds that happen to use an A2/FS upper, this is proper place for it - it's just not going to get much "action," as most people prefer the accessory railed upper receiver (A4/M4). Your best bet would probably be to simply post in the "IDF/KISS" thread. ~Augee |

A1E1 was common parlance for what became the C7 upper in the time period before the A2 was introduced.
The shell deflector was often referred to as "the Brunton bump" in honor of the man who devised it. It was a Godsend to the left handed and ambidextrous. Clip on brass deflectors were an effective but less than an ideal remedy for brass in the face. |

Where are you guys finding c7 uppers? Who makes a good one? http://www.cdnnsports.com/ar15-upper-receiver-a1-stripped-fixed-carry-dpms.html I had ordered 2 from DPMS direct "on sale" for $75 then a few weeks later CDNN had them for $49 so I bought 2 more. They'are $69.99 now, still can't beet that. I was looking for a M16/M16A1/C7 style upper before I found these and old crappy ones were well over $100. |

Are the parts pulled off a flat top upper compatible with a c7 upper? |

Are the parts pulled off a flat top upper compatible with a c7 upper? Yeah, all forward assist and port doors are basically the same. Do you have the A1 sight parts? DPMS has those. Some people prefere to get the sight else where because the DPMS apperture isn't mil spec, supposedly. I just realized those now include the sight kit. Even better deal. |

I got two of the C7 receivers a couple days ago from CDNN. ($69.99 and include a sight kit you install)
I may order two more of them. The sights went on easy. I bought the UPPER kit from PSA when they had them on sale for $24.00. It includes the FA set, dust cover set, delta ring set. They went on easy. Ron |

Can you tell us about that barrel? Where did you get it?
.750 block and pencil forward looks cool is it 16" with the muzzle device? Quoted:

Thanks, got all my small parts ordered. CDNN won't let me order online(alaska), will have to call and order the upper. |
