| New to Keymod as I have been a DD fanboy. I got a KAC URX 4 and built a rifle around it. So what rail covers are you guys using? |

I put the plastic NSR covers on mine. It was a pain in hte ass. Once you figure out the tricks, they really aren't bad. I about through my rifle through the wall on my first attempt. i warmed them up, and used this plastic gasket scraper I have to push them, and now they are a breeze. |

Keymod rails don't have sharp edges like quad rails, why add covers? They just add weight. With how thin the material is and how close to the barrel these types of rails sit, they tend to heat up rather quickly. I started off with the Noveske covers but one locking piece kept on falling off. I eventually just got some Mcnett Camo Form and did a couple wraps where my support hand was usually placed at. It doesn't fall off and mitigates the heat issue pretty damn well. |

A super PITA but once you get it they arnt going anywhere. |

I have the KAC covers on my Mod 2, and NSR panels on my NSR. I like the KAC covers a little better. Quoted:

Whats the best place (shipping times) to get some black covers? Can they be stippled with a soldering iron. |

ETA: They have small bumps all over them, so I don't think that they need to be stippled. |

This. If you are going shooting for the day take a pair of gloves. If you are using your rifle in a self defense situation then it won't matter as it will be over before the barrel heats up. Either way, keep that nasty looking plastic off your nice, new rail. They all look terrible and there's really no need. |

Then what exactly is the point of having hundreds of keymod slots on your rail? |
