I have one of the original VTAC Alpha rails with the slotted barrel nuts. Getting a suppressor and need to change out my gas block and muzzle device. Problem is the barrel nut is on a 14.5" Sabre barrel. I could just send it out to ADCO and have them swap everything, but I might be able to just pick up a stnadard 16" barrel and swap everything over to it if I can use a standard barrel nut with this rail. I know the new versions of this rail utilize a standard barrel nut, but can I use one with this rail?

That's the original VTAC, not the Alpha version.
The original uses two clamp screws on a split tab like you have there.
The Alpha uses three button head screws and little brackets to clamp into the front ID of a standard nut.
Your rail will not work with a standard barrel nut.

Thanks, I didnt think it would. I couldnt find the barrel nut on the VTAC website, but it looks like Troy still sells them. I think Im just going to order a new barrel and install all my stuff on it rather than send my 14.5" out for smith work.

At least I think this is the right nut?

Yes, that's it.  It would save you in shipping and smith work, that's for sure.
