so when is this keymod fad gonna die!? har har har |

I don't have one but why don't you like them? I think they are the best of both worlds so I hope they don't go away unless they are replaced by something better:
Lighter weight than 4-rail setups No need for those stupid rubber picatinny rail covers. Won't chew up your gloves/hands, less sharp edges to catch on clothing, etc. And you can still mount your add-ons wherever you want. (Just as veratile as a 4-rail picatinny) |

(Just as veratile as a 4-rail picatinny) i was just joking, when i would lurk here i would always read a lot of "DD will never made a dickmod/fadmod rail" BCM, DD, knights, noveske, and many more are building keymods. i think it safe to say keymod isnt just a fad. |
| I think it's a great idea. I like the modularity, I like the weight, I like the shape of the handguard. However, from a manufacturing standpoint, the Magpul M-LOK has it beat - machining a plain slot beats a keyhole with a backside chamfer any day of the week, yes, even with CNC. Easier to machine means less cost making the M-LOK rails cheaper to buy making them the more probable choice in the long run. |

While I like DD, their Keymod rifle is about a pound more than BCMs (ELW) But DD tends to make handguards for those who still use standard FSB's on their rifles. As much as I like the design of the BCM, I can't use their product because it doesn't work in the configuration I prefer to use (standard FSB, so standard handguard lengths) |
|
Most of that is probably in the barrel. The 6.28lbs for their keymod rifle is for the govt profile barrel. I didn't see the weight listed for the LW version. At any rate, the KMR is certainly going to be lighter due to the materials used.

Tried looking for one before posting. Missed it, my mistake. |

While I'm sure it'll be great, I still prefer their Quad Rail setups. The slightly heavier weight is worth it for the added rigidity & strength IMHO.
But they sure are sexy... https://danieldefense.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/0/2/02-151-20026-047_v11_l_1.jpg The added material for the rails adds neither strength nor rigidity. |
