| Is it worth the extra weight to get the LED version? |

Why do you feel the TA02 is better than the dual illumination ACOGs?
What purpose would it serve that, say, a TA31F wouldn't? I have several ACOGs (none of which are TA02's), and the TA31F is my favorite. Reticle is uncluttered, 4x32 is ideal for my needs, and eye relief suits my style of shooting (NTCH) perfectly. For me personally, a battery ACOG would do nothing that my TA31 wouldn't, nor would it solve a shortcoming of the TA31, so why carry extra weight, or have the bother of batteries? |

For the record, I own a tritium powered ACOG and have no plans to buy an LED one. However, I see two advantages of the TA02 ACOG:
1) If you are SWAT/MIL door kicker, being able to have a brighter recticle to guard against weapon-light washout indoors is a plus... 2) Down the road, 10 years or so later, you will have not have tritium to replace. Lots of folks around here bought ACOGs back during the height of OEF and OIF and will soon be looking at tritium replacement. As of 2013, Trijicon is currently quoting $540 for tritium replacement for elements past their half-life (15 years). |
