What kind of round count should I expect out of a Rainer Ultramatch barrel? I bought two of them a 18" an 16". The 18" is on my 3 gun competition rifle so I know it will get a lot of rounds though it an I was wondering what its life was going to be.

8-10,000 for a typical OEM AR-15 barrel;

15-20,000 for the hammer forged variety barrels.

There are many variables including chamber pressure (223 vs 556) and bullet construction (steel cased vs copper jacket).

It depends on what your definition of barrel life is.

Are you looking to maintain a specific measure of accuracy? Or do you have a different measure of barrel life?

We rebarrel some guns at work at 10k rounds (if they make it that far before failing on a barrel erosion gage) but those guns eat bolts and barrels for breakfast.

Other rifles have to maintain specific group sizes with specific ammo before getting rebarreled.

Other go until they fail gaging, which could be tens and tens of thousands
