Just saw this come up on my Facebook feed...
http://armscollective.com/switch-rail-system-by-fortis-manufacturing/
Looks like a good piece of gear! Wonder how much it will be... :/ |

Does it hold and relocate to zero?? I'd have trouble believing that if it did.
And really i don't see any benefit to this because you would have to buy the same fortis rail in different sizes, no other rail is going to be hot swappable. Even then, it only saves you 5 minutes to remove the rail screws. |
| Wow!! That thing is trick! That said I don't have much of a need for a qd handguard. So long as the lockup is rock solid , which being fortis I'm sure it is, it's a darn nice perk. I wonder if the weight listing of 8.7 for the 12" includes the hardware and barrel nut or not. If I remember the description of the rev correctly they list the weight not including the barrel nut but If it does, that would make it one heck of a light rail. I don't think I'll sell my kmr but this does look like a very cool offering. |

While no doubt slick - color me ignorant here gentlemen, but how often is someone removing their handguard enough to justify the cost -vs- benefit ? I'm sure more would if it's this easy, if a duty rifle and you have multiple rails with different lights or attachments or for easier suppressor removal, make it easier to clean and oil the barrel. Not saying I'm one of them but throwing out ideas. |

Stick, can you point me to the Fortis .308 rail? I searched their site and Rainier. Quoted:

Cool, where did you get a .308 KMR? I have 2 KMR personal rails, and I just got the new Fortis .308 rail, and the Fortis is very different than any other .308 I've seen. Stick, can you point me to the Fortis .308 rail? I searched their site and Rainier. I'm not sure its even out yet. I've got some 308 build stuff on order, I can't wait to get it built up. |

I will be watching. I need to ditch this heavy ass MRF |

What is the lever made of and what is the geometry of the locking mechanism? Could be ok or really bad in the long run you know, once I canme to understand how the KMR works, and why it specicically avoids putting tension at 6 'oclock, I am kind not interested in rails that work like this. I am not referring to the QD lever, but how it, and many other such as troy, MI, etc clamp on the bottom and therefore try to spread the channel under hte top rail apart... I suppose the NSR and some other HGs also avoid this problem, just that the KMR does it so elegantly. |

Not saying I'm one of them but throwing out ideas. Those multiple rails would all have to be a Fortis Switch since it uses a proprietary barrel nut. I think it would be a lot cheaper to just switch out any of the Keymod accessories. After all, isn't this what the Keymod Rail System is designed to do .... easy on, easy off ? |

It only makes sense as part of a take down rifle system, where you want to be able to take th ebarrel off or switch it. "Hey, I'll sell you a QD $300 handguard so that you can buy another $300 QD hand guard that is slightly longer/shorter and w/ different QD accessories permantly attachd to it." Lol |
