I didn't see anything about CBarms out there so I thought I'd give this write up. After talking to their customer service rep who assured me they had a return policy that would accept any unfired upper they sold I decided to pick this guy up because it was exactly what I was planning on building, without the hassle of installing a new gas block and free float rail. I also don't have the tools or vice on hand to do this. It was advertised as a Sabre Defense upper half and from what I could tell they had a pretty solid reputation before they were shut down. I added a bolt carrier group to the purchase as well.

Specs:

16" mid length barrel (marked Sabre Defence) 1/7 chrome lined
Upper - marked Sabre Defense
In house made (CB Arms) Free Float Rail
YHM Flip front sight gas block

On getting it it looks pretty nice and the free float rail feels solid.  I pulled out my calipers and measured the dimensions some of the free float rail slots and grooves all of which were in spec according to the dimensions I could find here.

Looking at the bolt carrier I don't see any markings anywhere, but the gas carrier is staked. The bolt has an "X" mark behind the lugs.

The only cosmetic blemishes I noticed were some wear on the barrel where the sling swivel from the gas block had rubbed up against it. This is my third stripped lower build and it looks like a pretty solid setup. I think I'll keep it and take it to the range sometime soon and see how it shoots.
