White Oak Armament or Wilson Combat? Going into an Aero Precision Build Lower, and COP Mid length upper.
White Oak Arms Heavier barrel, but it has a Wylde chamber which I like better than the 5.56. Wilson Combat I'm a fan of the White Oak for the chamber, but its a lot heavier than the Wilson Combat barrel. Both were recently in stock, and I expect that the Wilson will be back in stock again soon. Or are there other suggestions? I'm looking for a Stainless match grade barrel in 416 Stainless. These seem to be the hip choices on the market today/ Give me your vote? |

I have a WOA 18" SPR barrel and love it. It is more accurate than I am and hasn't given me any trouble at all. It has gobbled up everything from Hornady match to Wolf blaster ammo. So I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. I got mine from ADCO and had them bead blast it before shipping it as it comes with a brush finish. I wanted the dull bead blasted finish.
The Wilson Combat barrel doesn't look bad either. It comes flutted and bead blasted, which makes is a better value. Wilson Combat has a pretty good reputation, so I wouldn't hesitate to try it either. That barrel was not around when I got mine, I might have look at it instead because of the finish & flutting. You may also take a look at the Rainier Match 18". It has the .223 Wylde Chamber and a 90 day money back guarantee (so you can return if you don't like it). It also comes bead blasted, which is a nice touch. I think it falls right in line with what you are looking for. In the end, I think they are all pretty good choices and you can't really make a bad pick. Get the one you like and run with it. |

I went with the White Oak Barrel, in the Mid-Length. It will be here in a week, and I cant wait to install it. To cap it, for now I'm going to install the Wilson Combat Accu-Tac Flash hider. I found it on sale for $39 at Wilson Combat. I read a bunch of great reviews on this. I had debated some sort of a brake, or commentator but honestly I understand that those make a Rifle really loud, and its not like the 5.56 has a lot of kick to it anyway. I'm not going to be installing a suppressor on this, so for now this is probably going to work.
The build is coming along nicely. I'm sure I'll post photos once I get closer to completion. Next item up for consideration is going to be Optics.. but that is another can of worms for another thread. |
