Thinkin about another AR.  I want a good value upper.  I don't need, or want, a 1500 dollar upper.  I want a straight shooter at a reasonable price.  I very well may try one of those poly lowers but not sure yet.  I would like it to be able to do some prairie dog hunting.
Don't flame me for the poly lower I have to keep the cost down.  Maybe in the future I may build a lower but right now things are a bit tight.
thanks

why would you get a poly lower when PSA has stripped lowers + parts kits for 79 bux right now? that's everything but buffer tube buffer, buffer spring and stock for a built lower. they happen to have SEVENTY-SEVENTY FIVE mil-SPEC mil-SIZE buffers with carbine spring and carbine buffer for 28 bux, which puts you at just over 100 bucks for a built lower without a stock. and with all the black friday deals going on right now, there's no reason you couldnt pick up a GOOD stock, like a magpul, vltor, etc for sub-100$.

You've been on here long enough to know better then to buy a polymer lower, especially with lowers selling in the $50 range.

If things are a bit tight, I'd hold off.

6920's are 1k right now, and other good mfg's are offering their basic rifles for similar prices.

I agree with the others on the polymer lowers. Right now you can get a non poly setup for about $30 more so I wouldn't risk it. I have had quite a few poly lowers and only one was bad but one was enough.

For a budget upper check out sota arms. They work great and are really low cost.

I took my RRA Entry Tactical prairie dog hunting this past August. I am now building a new AR for my next trip because I felt like I pushed my barrel (16"-1x9) to its limits.

You say you don't want a $1500 upper. What is your budget? If half that seems like a deal I would go with one of the RRA varmint uppers. They are around $740 I think. I would have gone with one except I wanted to completely build my next rifle.  I personally would go with the 18" with 1x8 twist.  If you go real cheap you probably won't end up with a free float barrel and not the greatest barrel and your longer shots will leave you frustrated.  YMMV

ETA: I originally said predator upper but meant varmint. It looks like they don't have the 18" in predator.

Try JSEsurplus. I have gotten a couple from them, and they have gone bang every time. Seem to be good quality for the price you will pay.

Whats the logo look like on the AR15.com AR15? is it the bolt?

I have the ''ARF'' lower, and yes, it has the bolt face  logo on it. I paid $300 for the completed lower, would have jumped all over a railed upper for another $350.
