Title says it all.  Looking for a slim FF handguard with rail attachments.  Only real concern is which mounts better, a handguard with a supplied barrel nut or one that mounts on the standard barrel nut.

Priorities:
1) 9" handguard - want to keep the FSB
2) Around $200
3) Profile - Really like the MI Gen2 SS
4) Weight

I'm pretty sold on the MI.  I know Troy makes a few and Fortis is in my price range.  Like the Geissele rail, but it is out of my justification level.

ETA: I have a middy.  Should of clarified.

Never held the MI.. but my alpha is rock solid.. light.. and I haven't had and heat issues(rail getting too hot while shooting). My next build is ditch a fsb for a rev fortis even lighter..

Might want to recheck that; I have a 9" LaRue rail and it most definitely covers the gas block

Mid-length gun perhaps?

The Troy VTAC is a very lightweight rail, and in your price range.

Price wise, I love my Troy rail. However, if I wanted a FSB cutout model, I'd shoot for the Centurion Arms C4 cutout (they made both a mid-length and carbine cutout), or a Daniel Defense.

ETA: link to the Centurion. Sorry, my recommendations break the $200 budget. Check the EE for used ones.

That's my vote too, here's the 9" for a mid-length:

I have the MI SS on my AR and love it!

LaRue (replaces barrel nut)
Daniel Defense(replaces barrel nut)
Centurion (keeps the same)

Can't go wrong with these.  I prefer the FF that replace the barrel nut... they seem like they would be sturdier but I have never had a problem locking it on the the factory.

Do you have a middy or is it a carbine and you want the cutout?

Just like I recently recommended in another thread, but a different length.

$180, standard barrel nut, light and you can keep your mid length FSB.

I was just about to link this as well. I received mine a few days ago - top notch and very light.

I like the Fortis, but the more I look at it it seems to bulky top and bottom.  If that make sense...
