I have a spare 16" carbine barrel and stripped upper that I want to build together to make a complete upper. I will be getting a troy low profile gas block and a surefire 5.56 brake as well as a free float rail that goes over everything except the brake (entire barrel inside the rail, brake sticking out). What length rail should I get to accomplish this look? Will it be a 16" rail or is it shorter? thanks

You will have a hard time finding a rail longer than 15".  IMO a 15" rail is what you need and that will also open up your options.

15" is about your only option.  IIRC the only rail that is longer is a Noveske NSR and it's 16.7" long which wouldn't work in your case.

ETA:  You can get the NSR in other lengths for the record, and 15" is one of them.

I "think" the 15" Diamondhead Rail might be a little longer on the bottom that the advertised 15".  You would need to find the specs or Email them and ask.
