Just got one of these, and as I was installing the end-plate, I noticed that it doesn't have an engagement tab like pretty much every other end-plate I've seen.

I'm wondering if anyone has any pointers on getting my buffer tube aligned properly without the engagement tab to guide it. Just eye sight?

I installed my ASAP just a few weeks ago.  There are 2 pins in the ASAP kit, one for commercial tubes and one for military.  Just pick the appropriate one and insert it into the plate and tube slot - and you are good to go!!

Good luck and I know you will enjoy the ASAP.

Sorry if I wasn't clear in previous.  There are 2 metal tabs included in the ASAP kit, which will fit into the slot of the buffer tube and the slot in the ASAP plate.  These tabs, one military length and one commercial, will facilitate the alignment of the buffer tube to the receiver.  Hope this helps...

Yep, a little tricky to install but it ain't that bad, I used a pair of small curved needle nose pliers. The smaller of the two is for the mill spec tube.

How I install mine is to let the castle nut do the work.  I use use a set of hemostats to start the peg into the ASAP's slot, doing nothing more than getting it started, and let it rest at an angle up against the groove in the receiver extension.  Then I tighten down the castle nut and let it push the peg into position in both the ASAP and the receiver extension.  I have 5 of these on my rifles and pistols and the first one was a total nightmare installing until I decided to work smart instead of hard.  Once you let the castle nut do the work it is a piece of cake to install.

Those two tabs have always been in a little zip-lock bag packaged with the ASAP.  Please don't tell us you got in a hurry and threw the baggie away with the rest of the packaging?  If so or you did not get a set in yours, call Mag-Pul.  I would not send them an e-mail right now or it is likely to get lost in the millions of other emails wanting to know about order status, future of ARs...

It still takes some eyeballing and check-as-you-go to keep the receiver extension perfectly straight and aligned while applying the proper torque to the castle nut.
